Cast Stone

Care & Maintenance

Cast stone is a durable architectural material that will perform for decades when properly maintained.

Routine cleaning should be done using non-metallic brushes only—never use a wire or metal brush, as this will permanently damage the surface. For general cleaning, use a pH-neutral or non-acidic masonry cleaner and rinse thoroughly with clean water. Pressure washing is acceptable when needed, provided pressure does not exceed 1,000 PSI and a wide fan tip is used.

Specific stains may require targeted cleaners: oil, grease, or tar should be addressed with non-acidic degreasers; mold, mildew, or algae can be treated with approved biocidal cleaners; paint overspray may require masonry-safe paint removers; and mortar residue should only be removed using acid-based proprietary cleaners specifically formulated for stone, following manufacturer instructions carefully. Always test cleaning products in an inconspicuous area before full application.

Minor chips or surface damage to cast stone can often be repaired; however, due to the natural texture and color variation of the material, repairs may remain slightly visible. While these repairs restore integrity and appearance, they may not be completely undetectable. Proper care and cautious handling during construction and use will help preserve the appearance of the cast stone over time.
