Cast stone is a refined architectural concrete building unit manufactured to simulate natural cut stone, used in unit masonry applications. Cast Stone is an excellent replacement for many different types of stones (ex. lime stone, sandstone, etc.).

Yes, we have colors that mimic popular limestone colors. To view our different colors look at our color chart. Custom colors are also available upon request. The following are our three different textures: smooth, sand blast, and wet pour. The wet pour is a distressed look, which gives the cast stone a more antique look. The sand blast, the medium of wet pour and smooth, finish gives the stone a rough texture. The smooth, well, its just smooth. The smooth texture is also the most common texture used.

Some of the oldest cast stone is still in existence and dates back some 2,500 years! That should give you a good idea of how long cast stone lasts.

Cast stone has better durability, detail, and price than natural limestone. Besides those little details they’re very similar.

If your jobsite is in the greater Houston area then no we will send some one out to the jobsite to take the measurements. We do this at no additional charge. If you aren’t located inside the greater Houston area then you may contact us and we will gladly step you through the process of taking the measurements.

Yes, stone can be stained, finished or painted by many techniques to achieve the look that’s just right for you. Acid stain is of the most common. We recommend using paints suitable for masonry products.

The cost of cast stone varies from piece to piece. The size, complexity, coverage, materials, design can also have an impact on the cost. If the piece has to be customized that too will have an impact on the cost.

LIMITED WARRANTY
Precision Development inspects each and every piece of cast stone prior to shipment. When properly maintained cast stone will provide years of satisfaction. In the unlikely event that our material or workmanship should prove to be defective within one year from the date of substantial completion of your job Precision Development will replace any piece manufactured that proves to be defective. This does not include the labor costs incurred in removal and replacement of defective pieces. This warrant is extended only to the original consumer purchaser. This warranty will only cover failures due to defects in materials or workmanship that occur during normal use. It does not cover damage that is a result of misuse, abuse, neglect, mishandling, misapplication, alteration, modification, settlement of the structure, contact with paint or chemicals, staining or oxidation, the use of a pressure washer to clean the stone, discoloration due to airborne contaminants, or damage that is attributed to acts of nature. It will be the sole discretion of Precision Development to determine the validity of claims of defective materials.

LIMITS AND EXCLUSIONS
There are no expressed warranties excepts as stated above. The warrantor shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages resulting from the use of our product, or arising out of any breach of this warranty. All expressed and implied warranties, including the warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited to the applicable warranty period set forth above.

The compression strength of our cast stone is 6,500 psi (45 mpa). The weight of our cast stone is 150lb./ ft3. Our cast stone has a 6% absorption in cold water and 10% maximum absorption in boiling water. The air content in our wet pour cast stone is 4-8% for units exposed to freeze-thaw methods. The CPWL is less than 5% after 300 cycles of freezing and thawing. The shrinkage of our cast stone shall not exceed 0.065%.

Fireplace

A hearth is a piece of fire resistant cast stone placed directly in front of your fireplace. An overmantel is a piece of cast stone that is set above the mantelshelf. It will add that sophisticated look you’re looking for.

Yes, in most areas the fire code requires a hearth if you’re flooring is flammable (e.g. wood, carpet, etc.). Check your local building codes.

Filler panels are used when the desired fireplace is larger than the firebox. The filler panel just covers this area. Stone isn’t the only option for a filler panel. Tile, marble, and granite are other materials that may be used.

Installation

Yes, if your job is in the Greater Houston Area. Although we only install cast stone manufactured by Precision Development.

There are many factors that go into determining the cost of installation.

The cost of labor varies from region to region. Usually cast stone installation is 60% of the materials cost. We recommend that you get an experienced cast stone installer if you are outside of the Greater Houston Area.

Your cast stone will be shipped on one our air ride trucks or crated common carrier. SAIA will deliver your cast stone beyond the greater Houston area, to your curbside.

Some of our most common products are kept in stock and can be delivered within a week. Of coarse the size of your order and your location will determine your delivery time. Most of our orders are processed within 6-8 weeks.

Yes, it is possible with some of our fireplaces but not with all fireplaces. Contact us for more information on customizing your fireplace.

Maintenance

Yes, cast stone can be patched to a certain extent. Small quarter size chips are fairly easy to repair.

NEVER USE A METAL BRUSH. This will damage the cast stone.
